On December 12, 2013, democratic lawmakers introduced
legislation in both the House and the Senate proposing a
national paid family and medical leave insurance program. The proposal would establish an insurance
program that would be funded by employers and employees and would provide
payment to individuals off of work on FMLA leave. The legislation is structured similar to laws
in New Jersey and California .
The legislation is expected to fail but is evidence of a growing effort to
provide financial relief to injured workers. Stay tuned...
